1. Neonatal Acne:
Acne seen in newborns is generally known as newborn acne. These are small red, white or yellow spots and pimples that occur in the first few weeks after birth. The pores on the baby's skin can become clogged due to the hormones they receive in the womb. This condition is usually temporary and disappears on its own within a few weeks.

2. The Effect of Mother's Hormones:
Your baby receives its mother's hormones during birth. These hormones can cause the baby's skin glands to produce excessive oil. Excess oil can clog the pores and cause acne. The mother's hormones are usually eliminated from the body within a few weeks after birth, so acne disappears over time.

3. Not Paying Attention to Skin Cleansing:
Since the skin of newborn babies is extremely sensitive, attention should be paid to skin care. Accumulation of dirt or sweat on the skin can lead to acne. However, cleaning babies' skin too much can also disrupt the skin's natural balance. Therefore, it is sufficient to clean the baby's skin gently.

4. Seborrheic Dermatitis (Oily Skin):
Sometimes, newborns may experience yellowish or reddish, flaky crusts on their faces, heads, behind their ears or on their eyebrows. This condition is called seborrheic dermatitis and is caused by excessive activity of the baby's skin glands. This is usually harmless and does not require treatment, but if the crusts spread too much, they can be treated with the advice of a pediatrician.

5. Allergic Reactions:
Since babies' skin is very sensitive, newly used baby products (such as soap, lotion or detergents) can cause allergic reactions on the skin. These reactions can sometimes lead to rashes and acne-like spots on the skin. If acne or redness occurs after using products on your baby, it may be useful to change the products.

What to Do?

Gentle Cleansing: Clean your baby's skin gently once a day. Avoid products that contain too much chemicals by using a mild baby soap.

Let Them Breathe: Babies' skin needs to breathe. Covering up too much or wearing too thick clothing can cause acne to increase. Therefore, dress your baby in comfortable clothing.

Do not squeeze pimples: Squeezing or rubbing pimples causes further irritation of the skin. Your baby's acne will go away on its own within a few weeks.

Pay Attention to Product Selection: Use products specially formulated for babies and suitable for sensitive skin. Choose chemical-free, dermatologically tested products.

Consult a Doctor: If pimples do not go away within a few weeks, continue to spread, or your baby shows other symptoms, consult a pediatrician.

Pimples on the face of newborn babies are often temporary and should not be a cause for concern. However, in case of any doubt, it is always best to consult a specialist.
