Agents Used in Rosacea?

Does your skin often turn red? Do you have visible veins and redness on your cheeks, nose or chin? Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that usually manifests itself with redness, sensitivity and occasional acne-like swellings in the facial area. Although the exact cause is unknown, it is thought that genetics, environmental factors and immune system reactions play a role in the development of the disease.

So how can rosacea be controlled and how can its symptoms be alleviated?

1. Sun Protection is a Must!
Rosacea patients' skin is more sensitive to the sun, so it is recommended that they use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and above daily.
Wearing a wide hat and sunglasses when going out in the sun can also be a protective measure.
Especially in the summer months, direct exposure to sunlight at noon should be avoided.

2. How Should Skin Care Be?
Cleansers that are fragrance-free, alcohol-free and specially produced for sensitive skin should be preferred.
Washing with extremely hot water can irritate the skin, so it should be cleaned gently with lukewarm water. Using a moisturizer helps prevent irritation by strengthening the skin barrier.

3. Which Ingredients Are Good for Rosacea?
Some ingredients can help relieve rosacea symptoms: Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): Strengthens the skin barrier and can reduce redness.
Green Tea Extract: Can calm the skin with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Aloe Vera: Can prevent irritation thanks to its soothing and moisturizing effects.
Azelaic Acid: Can help reduce redness while renewing the skin with its mild peeling effect.

4. Triggers Should Be Avoided!
Alcohol, spicy foods, extremely hot or cold weather, stress and caffeine can trigger rosacea.
In cases where redness increases, it may be useful to keep a diary to identify triggers.

5. Are There Medical Treatment Options?
In mild cases, topical creams and gels can be used.
In advanced cases, antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs that can be prescribed by a dermatologist can be added to the treatment.
Laser treatment can be preferred to lighten the appearance of veins.
In conclusion, although rosacea is not a disease that can be completely eliminated, it is possible to control the symptoms to a large extent with proper skin care, avoiding triggers and appropriate treatment methods. If you have constant redness, sensitivity or visible veins on your face, you can determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your skin by consulting a dermatologist!
