Why Do Acne Occur on the Chest?
Acne formation in the chest area is actually a common condition in areas where oil glands are dense, such as the face and back. When the pores in this area are clogged, the ground for acne is prepared with the proliferation of bacteria. Genetic predisposition, excessive sweating and the use of products that are not suitable for the skin structure are the main causes.

Clothing Selection and Sweating
Tight, non-breathable synthetic clothing can cause friction in the chest area and sweat to be trapped in the skin. This situation both facilitates the clogging of pores and increases bacterial growth. Especially in the summer months or not taking a shower after sports can trigger acne.

Hormonal Effects
Puberty, premenstrual period or hormonal imbalances can increase acne in the chest area. In men, especially during periods when testosterone levels increase, oil production in this area increases and can cause acne.

Wrong Skin Care Products
Using comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients in body care products can cause new lesions to form on acne-prone skin. Especially heavy creams, perfumed lotions or thick sunscreens can cause acne in the chest area.

Nutrition and Stress
High glycemic index foods, excessive dairy products and processed foods can trigger acne in some people. In addition, stress hormones are known to contribute to acne by increasing oil production.

What to Do?
Regular cleaning of the chest area and using soaps or gels suitable for your skin type are very important. Light-textured moisturizers that do not clog pores after showering should be preferred. If acne is widespread or does not go away, medical treatment can be started with the evaluation of a dermatologist. Avoiding squeezing or irritating acne is a critical point in order to prevent scarring.
