What are Sun Spots (Solar Lentigo)?
Solar lentigo is brown or dark colored spots that occur on the skin as a result of long-term exposure to sunlight. It is known as sunspot among the public. It is most commonly seen on the face, hands, shoulders and décolleté area.

These spots are generally harmless and do not turn into cancer, but treatment may be requested due to aesthetic concerns.

How Are Sun Spots Treated?
Dermatological and medical aesthetic applications are used in the treatment of sun spots. The choice of treatment is determined by the depth, color and skin structure of the spot.

1. Laser Treatment
Q-Switch Laser: Targets the melanin pigment, breaks down the spot and allows it to be removed by the skin naturally.
Fractional CO2 Laser: Helps to reduce spots by renewing the skin surface.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatment: Breaks down melanin accumulations under the skin and opens the spots.
2. Chemical Peeling
Glycolic Acid, TCA, Jessner Peeling: Lightens the appearance of spots by peeling the upper layer of the skin and accelerating cell renewal.
Number of sessions: Usually 3-6 sessions are recommended.
3. Spot Mesotherapy & PRP
Mesotherapy cocktails containing vitamin C, tranexamic acid and glutathione are injected into the skin to provide a spot-lightening effect.
Skin renewal is supported with the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) method.
4. Spot Lightening Creams and Serums
Medical creams containing ingredients such as hydroquinone, vitamin C, arbutin, niacinamide, kojic acid can lighten the color of spots with regular use.
5. Sunscreen Use (Preventive Treatment)
SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sunscreens should be used every day to prevent sunspots from forming and recurring after treatment.
Things to Consider After Treatment:
