LASER EPILATION INTERVAL TIMES – HAIR CYCLE
It is recommended to wait 1 month, i.e. 30 days, for the face area and 45 days, i.e. 6 weeks, for the body area between laser epilation sessions. This is because each hair root is in different development stages. By repeating at certain intervals, it is aimed to catch the hairs in other stages in anagen, i.e. their most efficient form. This is also the reason why hair loss occurs in pieces after the session. While hairs in anagen form are affected by the laser to the maximum, their other forms return to anagen until the next session and become ready for epilation.
The hair cycle consists of three stages that manage the growth and shedding process of hairs:
Anagen (Growth) Stage: In this stage, cells in the hair root divide rapidly and the hair grows. Hairs in this stage are usually the strongest and thickest. It is the most efficient form for the laser device to see the hair root. Epilation performed in this stage shows its maximum effect. The reason for applying it at certain intervals is to aim to catch this phase.
Catagen (Transition) Phase: The hair root shrinks and growth stops at this stage. The hair root swells temporarily to keep the hair strand out, and this phase usually lasts a few weeks.
Telogen (Resting) Phase: The hair root rests and the hair separates from the hair follicle. When a new hair starts to grow in the anagen phase, the old hair falls out. This phase can last a few weeks. It is difficult to reach the hair root with laser during this process.
The hair cycle varies from person to person, and each hair cycle works at different times. Methods such as laser epilation can be effective by targeting hairs in the anagen phase because the hairs in this phase are the fastest growing and absorb the laser energy best. It is recommended to wait 1 month, i.e. 30 days, for the face area and 45 days, i.e. 6 weeks, for the body area. The reason for this is that each hair root is in different stages. By repeating at certain intervals, the aim is to catch the hairs in other stages that have reached anagen form. This is also the reason why hair loss occurs in pieces after the session.
