What is Q Switched Laser?
Q switched laser is an advanced laser technology that emits intense and controlled light energy, specifically targeting pigment problems in the skin. It is mostly used for tattoo removal, spot treatment and skin problems such as melasma. The system called “Q-switch” emits light in a billionth of a second and with high energy. In this way, it is possible to break down the pigments in the lower layers without damaging the skin surface.
How Does It Work?
Q switched laser focuses on the targeted colored pigments. When these pigments absorb the laser energy, they break into small pieces. Over time, the body removes these particles with its own system. Surrounding tissues are not damaged during this process. Thanks to this feature, it can be used safely even in sensitive areas.
In Which Situations Is It Used?
This laser system has a very wide area of use. The most common conditions preferred are:
Sun spots
Freckles and age spots
Melasma (pregnancy spots)
Tattoo removal
Congenital pigment disorders
Equalizing skin tone
Is it a painful procedure?
There may be a slight stinging or warm feeling during the procedure. However, this discomfort is tolerable for most people. A cooling device is applied to the area before the procedure to increase comfort. If necessary, it can also be supported with local anesthetic creams.
What is the Post-Application Process?
There may be slight redness, slight edema or peeling on the skin after laser. These effects usually pass within a few days. The skin becomes more sensitive to the sun after laser application. Therefore, a high protection factor sunscreen must be used. At the same time, the skin should be supported with moisturizing and soothing products.
How Many Sessions Are Required?
The number of sessions may vary depending on the problem to be treated and the skin type. While 3–6 sessions are generally recommended for stain and skin tone equalization procedures, procedures such as tattoo removal may take longer. Sessions are usually planned at 3–4 week intervals.
Who is it not suitable for?
Caution should be exercised in pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, those with active infections and individuals who have recently been exposed to intense sun. Suitability for everyone should be determined after expert evaluation.
Brightening and Cleansing Effect on the Skin
Q-switched laser does not only target stains; it provides a brighter, healthier and smoother appearance on the skin in general. It can reduce the appearance of pores and make the skin tone more even. Therefore, it also has a high aesthetic rejuvenating effect.
