Lip filler is a safe procedure. It should be performed by a doctor. Thus, if there is a condition that prevents the filler, it is treated by a doctor or the procedure is not performed. Especially if there are active infections (herpes, bacterial or fungal) on the lips, this puts the filler at risk of spreading the infection. The filler procedure should be postponed until the lips have healed.
Autoimmune diseases are characterized by an overreaction of the immune system, and filler is not recommended for people with such conditions, such as lupus. The immune system may perceive the filler as a foreign substance and may lead to complications.
Aesthetic interventions are generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is ethically unlawful to perform medical procedures on pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. In theory, it does not cause any harm, but in practice, we do not have sufficient data, therefore, there is not enough scientific data on how fillers may affect the baby during this period. Therefore, pregnant and breastfeeding women should wait until this period is over for aesthetic procedures. The procedure can be performed 6 months after birth.
Finally, filler procedures are risky for individuals with connective tissue diseases (such as scleroderma). In such diseases, subcutaneous structures may be weakened or hardened, which may cause the filler to spread in undesirable ways and the results to be unsatisfactory.
Before and during the procedure, make sure that it is done by a DOCTOR. Do not have the procedure done with products that you are not sure are approved by the Ministry of Health!
